International Reproducibility Network Meeting - London 2025

The collection of international reproducibility networks made use of the many reproducibility-focused people at the Metascience 2025 conference in London to organize a coordination meeting with all national reproducibility networks. The German Reproducibility Network was represented by Maximilian Frank and Olmo van den Akker. Two new networks, Ukraine and Canada, joined the team, showing that the community is continuing to grow.

One of the main takeaways was how useful it is that these networks differ from each other. They operate in different contexts and are at different stages, which means there’s a lot to learn by sharing experiences. To make this easier, participants suggested creating a simple overview of all networks and improving communication, including (digital) meeting times considering different time zones.

There was also a strong focus on building a more structured global collaboration through a Global Federation of Reproducibility Networks. The idea is to create a shared website, improve international visibility, and become a go-to place for expertise on reproducibility.

The international meeting has 4 working groups: Marketing / Self-image (active), Governance structure (active), Community engagement (being set up), Funding (being set up). We also discussed sharing resources and possibly working together on research projects. This could evolve into a fifth working group called Meta-science.

Overall, the meeting showed that this is a growing international effort that’s becoming more organised and connected. The German Reproducibility will aim to facilitate these efforts in any way they can. The next meeting will be alongside the World Conference on Research Integrity in Vancouver, Canada.
